Master Student - Big-Data Analytics Platforms and Genomics (R0) per el Barcelona Supercomputing Center

The data-centric computing group from the computer science department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center is searching for one master student on high-performance analytic platforms willing to work on an HPDA Orchestration in an EU project.

The main objective is to participate in European research projects focused on managing HPDA platforms and applications in the Genomics domain, along with the Life Science departments (Computational Genomics research group). For this, we're looking for a master student to join the DCC group and help in different research tasks on Big Data Analytics platform management, distributed systems, and computing towards use cases on genomics research and datasets. The mentioned tasks involve academic efforts such as experimenting with HPDA platforms such as Spark, Cloud and Serverless environments, AI/ML platforms, and analytics for genomics large-volume processing. The project involves collaborating with genomics researchers and actual use cases and communicating research results (writing scientific papers, assisting a scientific conferences, etc.)

Key Duties

• Experimentation with HPDA and AI/ML platforms and applications (e.g., Spark, Docker/Singularity, K8s, ...)
• Contribution to the development of bigger frameworks for Predictive Analytics
• Design of statistical and ML experiments toward genomics cases with large-volume data
• Give mutual support to other researchers in the project
