SORS: The Framework and Key Techniques of a New Heterogeneous Knowledge Service System | Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona

With the development of IT techniques, digital publishing development for knowledge service have new opportunities. This talk will discuss the challenge issues including decentralization of professional resources and Lack of offline and online Integration etc., and the requirement of new knowledge service requirements. A framework of a new heterogeneous knowledge service system is proposed, and the key technologies and a knowledge aggregation service platform that has been available to public will be introduced.

Prof. Zhendong Niu, professor with the School of Computer Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology.

Short bio of the speaker

Prof. Zhendong Niu received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Beijing Institute of Technology in 1995. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the University of Pittsburgh from 1996 to 1998, and he has been an adjunct/visiting Research Professor with the School of Computing and Information since 2006. He was a Researcher and an Adjunct Faculty Member with Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University from 1999 to 2004. He serviced as the director of the deputy dean for the software school from 2002 to 2006, the deputy dean for the school of computer science school from 2006 to 2019, and the director of the Library, Beijing Institute of Technology from 2019 to 2021.

Currently, He is a professor with the School of Computer Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology. His research interests include informational retrieval, digital libraries, online learning, user modeling, personalized recommendation, neuro informatics etc. He has published more than 200 papers in the top level journal and international conference in his fields including PNAS、 IEEE TKDE、IEEE TSE、 IJCAI、ACL、AAAI etc. Dr.Niu was a recipient of the IBM Faculty Innovation Award in 2005.
