As successful candidate, you will coordinate the infrastructure for operando and in situ (Scanning) Transmission Electron Microscopy at ALBA. These new capabilities are currently being developed in collaboration with several partner institutions in the frame of the InCAEM project of the ´Planes Complementarios con Comunidades Autónomas´ of the ´Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia`, of which the CELLS consortium is the executing entity.
The successful candidate will manage and guide the installation, commissioning, and operation of a state-of-the-art electron microscope for operando experiments and associated equipment. In addition, s/he will lead the efforts and interests in the field of in situ (S)TEM of highly motivated researchers in a recently created working group, in coordination with a close network of teams working in different experimental and theoretical approaches and the correlation between them.
The successful candidate will foster the careers of the researchers and at the same time create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all employees, our collaborators, and the users. S/he will develop an own scientific program aligned with the groups, sections, and project goals. The ALBA diverse and highly interactive team provides excellent conditions to refine your scientific expertise, broaden your experimental and technical background, and build a large carrying network for your future scientific career.
Specifically, you will
- manage the installation and commissioning of a state-of-the-art electron microscope for in situ and operando experiments and associated equipment.
- contribute to define standards, necessary to provide operando and in situ (S)TEM analysis services within a network of experts and under consideration of the international community.
- strongly collaborate with the beamlines, methodologies, and research groups in order to develop a true multi-technique approach that will benefit staff, collaborators, and external users.
- act as gateway to the user community.
- manage the user operation for a (S)TEM.
- provide user support for public, industrial and partner users at the InCAEM (S)TEM as a local contact.
- develop your own scientific program, aligned with the scientific program of ALBA, the beamlines, the microscopes and in the larger context of the sections and facility.
This includes developing the research plan, contributing to the preparation of experimental proposals, applying for general user beamtime at ALBA and/or other facilities, and contributing to the analysis and publication of the results.
- participate on the maintenance, commissioning and upgrade activities of the facility.
- engage in and initiate research programs, national and European projects and collaborations.
