When making our choices about which companies to join, we have our own criteria such as: location and travel possibilities, working hours and flexibility, pay and reward... but how much thought do we give to our own personal development? Different companies manage talent in different ways - some recruit for potential, others for performance today; some provide structured career development opportunities, others give you the training for today's job as you need it; some have a culture which helps develop people for future roles, others have restrictive line supervisors who want to keep their best performers to help make themselves look good. This workshop provides insight into three different aspects of talent management. It then encourages participants to develop questions for themselves which can help them determine whether a recruiting company is likely to deliver the career opportunities they promise, or a career cul-de-sac.
