The System Tools and Advanced Runtimes (STAR) group is a computer systems research team that investigates multiple layers of the system software stack —from operating systems, runtimes, and low-level APIs to programming models, tools, and applications. We aim to enhance the system software stack to support increasingly complex workloads, including traditional high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics on massively parallel HPC and cloud platforms.
The STAR group offers a full-time position for a student to work on the development of HPC tools and runtimes. We are seeking a motivated and talented student interested in low-level programming, advanced parallelization techniques, parallel programming models, and runtime systems. The successful candidate will participate in industrial and European research projects, with the possibility of disseminating their work through conference presentations or journal publications.
Key Duties
- Develop tools and runtime systems for HPC environments
- Participate in national and international research projects
