Group leader Social Link Analytics unit - biases and evaluation of AI tools in health / disinformation in social networks / Bioinfo4Women (R4) - AI4S per el Barcelona Supercomputing Center
The Social Link Analytics unit has been dedicated to analyzing data related to biology and medicine, aiming to evaluate their impact on scientific advancement. Currently, in a phase of growth and development, the unit requires a strong, proactive leader to drive the team forward. The successful candidate will manage and guide a team of researchers, developers and students.
The main areas of activity of the unit have included:
- Research on sex and gender biases in health and Artificial Intelligence.
- Study the spread of disinformation in the media and on social networks, tracking its propagation and regarding the evolution of narratives. This involves applying network analysis techniques, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and language models (LLMs).
- Conducting a comprehensive evaluation of AI applications in the health sector, considering technical, human, and social dimensions.
- Leading the Bioinfo4Women (https://bioinfo4women.bsc.es/) cross-cutting program within the life sciences department. The primary goal is to foster the career advancement of women researchers, enabling them to reach leadership positions.
The leader of the unit, in collaboration with the department director, will be responsible of the future adaptation of these, and other possible research lines, and their evolution.
The funding for these actions/fellowships and contracts comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility - Next Generation, within the framework of the General Invitation by the public business entity Red.es to participate in the talent attraction and retention programs within Investment 4 of Component 19 of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

Key Duties
- Lead the development and implementation of projects aimed at validating Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions in the healthcare sector. This involves considering various aspects such as technical, ethical, legal, socioeconomic, cultural, and social factors.
- Lead research initiatives and developments focused on identifying and combating disinformation. This includes using AI techniques and language models to analyze the diffusion of false information and the evolution of narratives.
- Manage the strategic, organizational, and financial aspects of the department's Bioinfo4Women (B4W) program. This involves overseeing the program's progress and ensuring its alignment with the organization's overall goals.
- Lead data-driven research projects aimed at identifying and mitigating sex and gender biases in the health sector.
- Efficiently manage a team of researchers, technicians, and students, providing a conducive work environment that encourages growth and collaboration.
- Collaborate with the Life Sciences Department and the rest of the BSC in the development of the unit’s research lines.
- Represent the unit and the B4W program in different forums, conferences, and meetings, advocating for the team's research and objectives.
