Call for Innovation: Shaping the Future of Tobacco Agriculture and Processing

Project/objectives description: Philip Morris Italia, together with Almacube, is seeking new technologies and solutions applicable to the company’s processes and the tobacco agricultural supply chain. The program is aimed at companies operating in the AgriTech sector with innovative solutions, as well as those not yet active in AgriTech but with technologies applicable to the sector or the challenges of the initiative. This program aims at promoting the integration of advanced technologies and solutions within the Philip Morris group. Following an initial phase of scouting and selecting the most relevant solutions, the chosen innovation partners will have the opportunity to participate in a co-design phase to design, working closely with the Philip Morris Italia team, the best possible configuration of the proposed solution and align it with the company's specific needs and processes. At the end of this phase, Philip Morris may decide, based on the results achieved, to fund a Proof of Concept.

The selected innovation partners will receive a recognition of €5,000.00 for participation in the co-design phase.

The initiative includes the following 5 challenges:

• CHALLENGE 1: Predictive agriculture

• CHALLENGE 2: Curing, processing and storage

• CHALLENGE 3: Innovation in harvesting and processing

• CHALLENGE 4: Beyond tobacco

• CHALLENGE 5: Optimising the production of reconstituted tobacco sheets

Eligibility criteria: Participation in the Initiative is open to the following subjects: Legal persons of good standing: in any corporate form, including innovative start-ups with registered office and operational headquarters in Italy or abroad, and whose share capital is held by one or more legal persons or natural persons aged 18 years or over.
