PATC Courses

PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe appointed BSC as one of the first PRACE Advanced Training Centre (PATC), thus making us a key driver of European high-performance computing education.

The mission of the PRACE Advanced Training Centres (PATCs) is to carry out and coordinate training and education activities that enable the European research community to utilise the computational infrastructure available through PRACE.

PATC courses are free of charge and are attended by specialists from across Europe.  All lectures and materials are in English. Students will benefit from theoretical and hands-on sessions, communication with internationally renowned instructors and access to the best computing resources of Europe. They will also receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Becas Santander Skills | Young Leaders for Education

El programa Santander Scholarships Skills | Young Leaders for Education, en colaboración con Universidad de Valencia, ofrece la oportunidad a 60 becados de participar en el V Encuentro Internacional de Rectores de Universia de Valencia (España) con sesiones de formación durante y antes del evento. Con esta beca buscamos acercar la voz de 60 jóvenes de los países participantes y conocer así su visión sobre el futuro de la educación, haciéndoles partícipes de los diferentes ejes temáticos sobre los que se desarrollará el Encuentro. Los seleccionados recibirán una formación online, durante las semanas previas al Programa, a cargo de profesores de la Universidad de Valencia y sesiones presenciales durante la estancia en Valencia, España. La formación online se impartirá en 5 sesiones específicas sobre 3 temáticas: 1.      La formación a lo largo de la vida o aprendizaje continuo. 2.      El impulso al emprendimiento y la innovación. 3.      Las redes e interconexión entre las universidades

PhD Student per el Barcelona Supercomputing Center

Applications are invited for PhD student positions at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS). The PhD student will become a member of a world class research group that frequently contributes to top computer architecture and high-performance computing venues (E.g. SC, ISCA, HPCA, HPDC, or PPoPP). Research activities will be focused on one or several of the following topics, among others: 1. Virtual memory management: Acceleration of virtual to physical address translation, hardware support for OS, management of irregular workloads. 2. High-performance computing architectures: Acceleration of floating-point intensive workloads via reconfigurable or vector processors. 3. Cache management policies for graph and strongly irregular workloads. 4. Numerical libraries for scientific computing with focus on long vector architectures. Experience in some of these topics is strongly appreciated. Key Duties Formulate and evaluate new ideas in a rigorous way Write technical reports and papers
