HSE Officer per a Gates

gatesGates Corporation is the global leader in the manufacturing of power transmission belts and high pressure hydraulic hoses. We work around the globe delivering industrial and automotive belts, hoses, and tensioners that exceed industry standards. Currently we are looking for the Gates P.T. Spain, located in Balsareny (Barcelona), for a HSE Officer


Responsible for developing, organizing, implementing and managing all Health, Safety Environmental & Energy programs (hereinafter HSE). Ensures all HSE programs comply with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategic planning and Project management to address HSE risk reduction, injury prevention, waste elimination and energy elimination based on risk.
  • Develop and maintain HSE programs, policies and procedures to manage all HSE compliance and risks applicable to the facility.
  • Establish, implement and sustain ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 50001 and Gates Management System to asses and control HSE risks. Responsible for HSE Risk Assessment programs.
  • Manage plant’s environmental, energy and OSHA regulatory requirements. Interface between local, state and regional regulatory agencies, corporate and insurance carrier representatives in order to ensure that the plant complies with appropriate requirements.
  • Responsible for Emergency Preparedness and Response.
  • Identify, develop, perform and track HSE training requirements.
  • Identify HSE hazards and establish controls to mitigate risks. Implement behavior based safety, such as STOP Program.
  • Lead investigations on environmental and safety incidents including near messes, injures, releases and non- compliance. Serve as a plant resource for root cause investigations and countermeasure implementation to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Lead HSE audits in the facility



  • 5-8 years of Health, Safety and Environment experience required. Manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental management, Engineering, Business or closely related field strongly preferred.
  • Master in Occupational Hazard Prevention required.
  • Industry relevant certifications preferred (Certified Safety Professional, CSP; Certified Industrial Hygienist, CIH; Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, CHMM).
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • High level interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Change management leadership capability.
  • Good Standard of English language (FCE level required)
