Post-doctoral Computer Science per el BSC

BSC-CNS is the National Supercomputing Facility in Spain and was officially constituted in April 2005. BSC-CNS manages MareNostrum, the most powerful supercomputer in Europe. The mission of BSC-CNS is to investigate, develop and manage information technology in order to facilitate scientific progress. With this aim, in 2009 a research line on Social Sciences and Humanities was constituted. It has been involved in different research projects and developments inside a strong interdisciplinary working environment. 
Job Description:
The Social Simulation group from the Computer Applications & Engineering Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center is offering a Post-doctoral position on Computer Science available in the ERC-project “EPNet. Production and Distribution of Food during the Roman Empire: Economic and Political Dynamics” (http://www.roman-ep.net/epnet/).
The project involves an exciting opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary project aimed to explore the use of computer simulation in the study of human behavior.
The candidate would contribute to the creation of new social simulation paradigms through research and development of Pandora, a new open-source Agent-Based Modelling framework, currently being developed at BSC:
The position is temporary renewable up to 2 years, starting around September, 2014.
 Main Responsibilities:
  • Research on new dynamic load balancing techniques for distributed Agent-Based Simulations.
  • Optimization of Pandora ABM distributed engine.
  • Integration in the development team that is creating and maintaining the Pandora framework.
  • Capacity of supervising PhD Students
Skill Specifications:
  • C/C++ programming language
  • MPI/OpenMP protocols
  • GNU/Linux
  • Fluent English
The following skills will also be evaluated:
  • Agile development methodologies (XP, Test-Driven Development, etc.).
  • Open-source development environments (git, scons, gcc/g++, etc.)
  • Knowledge on ABM platforms ( RePast, Netlogo, Pandora, ...)
  • Fluency in Catalan and/or Spanish languages
Qualifications and Experience:
  • PhD in Computer Science or another qualification provided that the candidate can justify having acquired the needed capabilities and skills for the vacancy.
  • Background on interdisciplinary projects, specially related to Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • Experience in complex systems will be appreciated.

Concurs de Projectes de Cooperació al DBMC 2020

El comitè organitzador del DBMC 2020 (Congrés sobre Durabilitat dels Materials en la Construcció), en col·laboració amb el CCD, convoca la primera edició del Concurs Internacional de projectes de Cooperació i Desenvolupament, en el marc de la Conferència de DBMC. International Sustainability academy (ISA) scholarship program in Germany

During the period of sponsorship until 2022, the ISA offers up to 12 students and professionals every year (see requirements) an 8-month research stay in Hamburg, together with a further month of sponsorship in their home country in order there to complete and customize the results of the research report. 


The primary focus is on the close exchange of know-how amongst the scholarship holders during their individual research work. Further focal points of the program are training courses and internships developed together with the scholarship-holders, visits to Best Practice companies and institutions. Students will be supervised and supported in the subject matter by the ISA and selected universities and research centers.

Study Scholarships - Postgraduate Studies in the Field of Architecture • DAAD

DAAD scholarships offer graduates the opportunity to continue their education in Germany with a postgraduate or continuing course of study. The scholarships also promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.


Who can apply? Foreign applicants who have gained a first university degree in the areas of Architecture, Interior Design, Monument Conservation, Urban Planning/Urban Development, Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Planning at the latest by the time they commence their scholarship-supported study programme.
What can be funded? In this study programme, you can complete
a Master's degree/postgraduate degree leading to a final qualification, ora complementary course that does not lead to a final qualification (not an undergraduate course) at a state or state-recognised German university of your choice. This programme only funds projects in the area of Design/Planning. Other DAAD scholarship programmes are available for applicants
