Junior Developer per el BSC

Computer Science department offers a transversal junior developer position to work both on the Human Brain project and under the Severo Ochoa programme. Human Brain is a project funded by the 7 th Framework Programme of the European Union that aims to build completely new information computing technology infrastructure for neuroscience and for brain-related research. Under the Severo Ochoa programme, the BSC is carrying out multidisciplinary research to address the complex challenges in the path towards Exascale computing, co-developing energy efficient and high performance hardware and software platforms with applications in personalised medicine, modeling of human organs, and global models for climate change and air quality prediction. Within this context this junior developer for resource management for BigData will contribute to design a high-scalable resource management architecture. Among other tasks, this junior developer will work on defining the interface that the proposed architecture will export to applications, considering different programming languages, and will contribute to integrate all the components of the architecture implemented in the computer science department, defining interfaces and tasks boundaries between them.
Main Responsibilities
Definition of the interface exported to applications
Definition of interfaces and tasks distribution between runtime and data store system
Definition and development of policies and mechanisms to manage data store hierarchy
Preparation of project deliverables
Participation in dissemination tasks
Skill Specifications
In-depth knowledge of resource management policies and techniques for distributed execution systems and distributed
data stores
Critical and creative thinking skills
Fluency in English essential
Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure
Ability to work independently and in a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications & Experience
Graduate on Computer Science
Experience with application performance analysis, distributed programming models and non-relational data bases
Capacity to interact and build strong relations with a diverse members/stakeholder/staff base
Willing to travel
The position is temporary and will be located at BSC within the Computer Science department in collaboration with the specific program coordinator.
