Spin Your Thesis! programme i Drop Your Thesis! programme a la ESA

L'Agencia espacial europea convoca dos programes adreçats a estudiants i doctorands.

Spin Your Thesis! programme

The Spin Your Thesis! programme gives university students and PhDs the opportunity to perform scientific or technological research in hypergravity conditions in a number of fields, such as  biological, biochemical, microbiological, opto-physical, physical, material sciences,  fluid sciences, geology, and plasma physics fields A Large Diameter Centrifuge (LDC) has recently been developed  by ESA, and can cater to  experiments that  range from 1 to 20 g. With its four gondolas mounted at the end of long arms, this facility can provide, for example, a hypergravity environment for cells and plants, as well as physical science and technological experiments.

Drop Your Thesis! programme

The Drop Your Thesis! programme gives university students, from Bachelor’s to PhD level, the opportunity to perform scientific or technological research in microgravity conditions. The gravity levels that are obtained in ZARM Drop tower experiments are as low as 10-6 g and last for about 5 to 10 seconds. This is the same level that is attained for experiments on the International Space Station, and is enough for a multitude of scientific research opportunities.
